Government Medical College (GMC), Mahabubnagar has released a new recruitment notification for eligible candidates for various teaching and medical posts. GMC Mahabubnagar Recruitment 2026 Eligibility
The eligibility requirements differ according to the post.
Professor
Candidates must possess MD/MS/DNB in the concerned subject, along with the prescribed teaching/research experience and other requirements under the National Medical Commission’s Teaching Eligibility Qualifications in Medical Institutions Regulations, 2025.
For Professor posts, the notification specifies Associate Professor-level experience and research publication requirements, along with the required medical education/research courses.
Associate Professor
Candidates should have MD/MS/DNB in the concerned subject and the required experience as Assistant Professor or equivalent experience prescribed under the NMC regulations.

Assistant Professor
Candidates should possess MD/MS in the concerned subject. Normally, one year of Senior Resident experience in the concerned subject is required, subject to the relaxations and alternative eligibility conditions mentioned in the notification.
The notification also provides certain alternative routes for eligible consultants, specialists, medical officers, diploma holders and others meeting the specified conditions.
Tutor and Junior Resident
For both Tutor and Junior Resident, the required academic qualification is MBBS or equivalent degree, with MBBS qualification registered with the Telangana Medical Council. Candidates from outside Telangana must obtain registration with the Telangana State Medical Council within one week of selection for confirmation of appointment.
Age Limit
According to the notification:
- Professor: Below 69 years
- Associate Professor: Below 69 years
- Assistant Professor: Below 69 years
- Tutor: Below 45 years
The age is considered on the date of notification.
GMC Mahabubnagar Salary 2026
Selected candidates will receive consolidated monthly remuneration according to the post:

GMC Mahabubnagar Selection Process
Selection will be made according to the Teaching Eligibility Qualifications Regulations, 2025 of the National Medical Commission, along with the additional criteria specified in the notification.
For Assistant Professor posts, marks obtained in the MD/MS/DNB PG degree will be considered. For Tutor and Junior Resident posts, MBBS marks will be considered. For Professor and Associate Professor posts, the duration of teaching experience in the respective cadre will be considered.
The notification also states that selection is nationwide, with first preference given to local candidates; candidates from other states will be considered if local candidates are not available.

Important Things Candidates Should Know
The appointments are purely temporary and contractual. The contract is initially valid up to March 31, 2027, or until the relevant vacancy is filled through regular appointment/promotion, whichever is earlier. The contract does not provide any right to future regular government appointment.
Candidates already working on a contract basis in another Telangana Government Medical College in the same cadre are not eligible to apply. Selected candidates must also submit the required relieving order from their previous institution where applicable.
The notification does not mention any application fee, so candidates should not assume that a fee is payable.
