TGPSC ASO Notification 2026

The Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) has released the official notification for the recruitment of Mandal Planning and Statistical Officers (MPSO) / Assistant Statistical Officers (ASO) in the Directorate of Economics and Statistics. Through Notification No. 07/G/ES/2026, dated 28 October 2026, the Commission has announced 102 vacancies in the zonal cadre.

TGPSC ASO Vacancy 2026 – 102 Posts

TGPSC has notified 102 vacancies for Mandal Planning and Statistical Officers / Assistant Statistical Officers in the Directorate of Economics and Statistics.

The vacancies are distributed across seven zones of Telangana.

Zone VI – Charminar has the highest number of notified vacancies, with 25 posts, while Zone V – Yadadri has the lowest, with seven posts.

TGPSC ASO Educational Qualification 2026

Candidates must possess the prescribed educational qualification on the date of notification, 28 October 2026.

Applicants must have completed a bachelor’s degree through a recognised university or institution and satisfy one of the following subject combinations.

Eligible Degree Qualifications

Candidates must possess any one of the following qualifications:

1. Statistics: A bachelor’s degree with Statistics as one of the main subjects.
2. Mathematics: A bachelor’s degree with Mathematics as one of the main subjects, with Statistics studied as a paper in one year, two years or all three years, as applicable.
3. Economics: A bachelor’s degree with Economics as one of the main subjects, with Statistics studied as a paper in one year, two years or all three years, as applicable.
4. Commerce: A bachelor’s degree with Commerce as one of the main subjects, with Statistics studied as a paper in one year, two years or all three years, as applicable.
5. Computer Science: A bachelor’s degree with Computer Science as one of the main subjects, with Statistics studied as a paper in one year, two years or all three years, as applicable.

The qualification must meet the requirements specified in the notification and the relevant service rules.

Important Qualification Cut-Off

Candidates should pay particular attention to the qualification cut-off date.

The required degree result must have been declared by the concerned university on or before 28 October 2026. Merely appearing for the final examination or having the result under processing by that date does not satisfy this requirement.

Candidates who obtained their degrees through open or distance education must ensure that the qualification is recognised by the relevant statutory authority.

TGPSC ASO Age Limit 2026

The age limit is calculated as of 1 July 2026.

The upper age limit has been increased from 34 years to 44 years in accordance with the government order cited in the notification.

Age Relaxation

The notification provides age relaxation for eligible reserved categories and other specified groups.

TGPSC ASO Application Fee 2026

Candidates must pay the applicable application processing fee and examination fee while submitting their online applications.

Examination Fee Exemption

All unemployed applicants are exempted from payment of the ₹80 examination fee.

However, employees of government organisations, including Central and State Government departments, PSUs, corporations and other government-sector organisations covered by the notification, must pay the prescribed examination fee.

The application processing fee and any applicable examination fee must be paid online through the prescribed payment gateway.

The notification states that fees once paid will not be refunded or adjusted under any circumstances.

Candidates should verify their category and fee exemption eligibility before making payment.

TGPSC ASO Exam Pattern 2026

The selection process consists of an objective-type written examination with two papers.

Each paper carries 150 marks, making the total examination worth 300 marks.

Paper I will be conducted bilingually in English and Telugu. Paper II, Statistics at degree level, is common to all candidates.

TGPSC may conduct the examination through either an offline OMR-based test or a Computer Based Recruitment Test (CBRT). The Commission will announce the examination mode separately.

If the computer-based examination is conducted in multiple sessions, the Commission may apply its prescribed normalisation procedure.

TGPSC ASO Syllabus 2026

Paper I – General Studies and General Abilities

The main syllabus topics include:

1. Current affairs – regional, national and international.
2. International relations and events.
3. General science and India’s achievements in science and technology.
4. Environmental issues and disaster management.
5. Economy of India and Telangana.
6. Geography of India, with a focus on Telangana.
7. Indian Constitution and polity, with a focus on local self-government.
8. Society, culture, heritage, arts and literature of Telangana.
9. Policies of Telangana State.
10. History of modern India, with a focus on the Indian National Movement.
11. History of Telangana, with special emphasis on the Telangana statehood movement.
12. Logical reasoning, analytical ability and data interpretation.
13. Basic English.

Paper II – Statistics

Paper II covers Statistics at degree level.

Securing the minimum qualifying marks does not automatically guarantee selection.
