ToggleUnder the new system, a statewide electronic database called the Telangana Family Register is being created. It records information about the head of the household and other members and enables eligible adults to obtain an official certificate through MeeSeva.
The service has attracted considerable attention since its introduction. By August 11, nearly six lakh applications had reportedly been submitted for Family Register Certificates in Telangana.
This article explains what the new certificate is, who can obtain it, what information it contains, how to apply through MeeSeva, processing time, charges, and its uses.

What is Telangana Family Register Certificate?
The Telangana Family Register Certificate, commonly abbreviated as FRC, is an authenticated record showing the composition of a family.
The government introduced the system because citizens often face difficulty producing a reliable document establishing their household composition while accessing public services. The electronic register is intended to create uniformity in verification and make such information readily available when required.
The certificate is based on information available in the Food Security Card (ration card) database maintained by the Civil Supplies Department.
This is a newly introduced service and should not be confused with the older Family Membership Certificate issued in cases involving a deceased family member.
