CSIR-NGRI Technician Eligibility 2026

The basic qualification for the Technician posts is SSC/10th Standard or equivalent with Science subjects and a minimum of 55% marks, along with the relevant trade qualification.

Candidates can generally qualify through any one of the following routes:

  • SSC/10th with Science subjects and at least 55% marks + relevant ITI/National/State Trade Certificate; or
  • SSC/10th with Science subjects and at least 55% marks + two years of full-time apprenticeship training in the relevant trade; or
  • SSC/10th with Science subjects and at least 55% marks + three years of relevant work experience in the specified Government/PSU/Autonomous Body organisations.

The relevant trade must match the post for which the candidate is applying.

Age Limit

The approximate gross monthly emoluments are ₹39,970, including applicable HRA for a Class X city.

The post also carries All India Service Liability, meaning selected candidates can be liable for service at CSIR laboratories, institutes or units as applicable.

CSIR-NGRI Technician Selection Process

The selection process consists of two major stages:

1. Trade Test

Candidates shortlisted after scrutiny of applications will be called for a Trade Test relevant to the post/trade.

The Trade Test is qualifying in nature. Candidates who qualify will proceed to the competitive written examination.

2. Competitive Written Examination

The written examination will be conducted in OMR-based or Computer-Based Objective Multiple Choice format.

Paper-I has no negative marking. In Paper-II and Paper-III, one mark is deducted for every wrong answer. Paper-II and Paper-III are evaluated only for candidates who cross the minimum threshold in Paper-I. The final merit list is prepared using the marks obtained in Paper-II and Paper-III.

The examination standard is SSC + ITI / XII Standard. Questions are generally set in English and Hindi, except questions in the English Language section.
