SBI Junior Associate Eligibility 2026
Age Limit
The candidate’s age should be between 20 and 28 years as on April 1, 2026.
Candidates must have been born between April 2, 1998, and April 1, 2006, both dates inclusive.
Upper-age relaxation is available according to the category and applicable rules:
- OBC – 3 years
- SC/ST – 5 years
- PwBD (OBC) – 13 years
- PwBD (SC/ST) – 15 years
- Eligible Ex-Servicemen – as per SBI rules
- Certain eligible widows, divorced women and judicially separated women – 7 years, subject to the prescribed maximum age
- Specified SBI trained apprentices – additional relaxation as mentioned in the notification
Candidates cannot claim cumulative age relaxation under multiple provisions.
Educational Qualification
Candidates should possess a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government.
The educational qualification is considered as on December 31, 2026.
Candidates who are in the final year or semester of graduation may also apply provisionally. However, if selected, they must produce proof of passing the graduation examination on or before December 31, 2026.
Local Language Requirement
Knowledge of the specified local language is an important eligibility requirement for this recruitment.
- For Telangana, the specified languages are Telugu and Urdu.
- Candidates must be able to read, write, speak and understand the opted local language.
- Candidates who have studied the specified local language in 10th or 12th standard and can produce the relevant marksheet/certificate will not have to appear for the Local Language Proficiency Test.
Other provisionally selected candidates will have to qualify in the language test before joining. Failure to qualify will result in non-appointment.

The pay scale for Junior Associates is:
The starting basic pay is ₹26,730, including two advance increments admissible to graduates.
According to SBI, the total starting emoluments for a clerical cadre employee posted in a metro such as Mumbai would be around ₹46,000 per month, including applicable DA and other allowances. Actual emoluments may vary depending on the place of posting.
